Zion Canyon Hot Springs

The Washington County Water Conservancy District has entered into an agreement with a national hot springs operator to create Zion Canyon Hot Springs.

Scheduled to open in the fall of 2025, the 15-acre resort will feature 53 bodies of water, including 32 natural hot spring pools, 16 WorldSprings inspired pools, 3 barrel saunas, 3 cold dip pools, and a large freshwater pool and spa. Water from the La Verkin Hot Springs (also known as Dixie Hot Springs or Pah Tempe) will be used in the spring pools and returned to the Virgin River.

The resort will be located on elevated topography in La Verkin, offering guests picturesque views of the Virgin River canyon — the same canyon that runs through Zion National Park, which is located approximately 30 minutes from the resort.

Off Road Capital Partners and the founder of Iron Mountain Hot Springs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado are developing Zion Canyon Hot Springs and will manage the resort as a public recreational amenity. The district has entered into a long-term lease agreement with the developers for land and a portion of the water produced by the hot springs.

About the Springs

The hot springs is a natural spring located on the Virgin River on the boundary between Hurricane and La Verkin that produces approximately 5,000 gallons per minute, or more than seven million gallons daily, of 107-degree Fahrenheit water. The springs release an astounding 109,000 tons (6,813 semi-truck loads) of salt annually.

The springs’ high salinity limit use and pose unique challenges to our regional and local water supply. The district is working with federal, state and local organizations to consider treatment options to improve the water quality for future use.

Prior to becoming the sole owner in 2013, the district was a majority owner of the water rights for the springs and the property, having acquired title in 1994.
